Island Table Extension -
The client for this project was searching for a custom solution to extend their current kitchen island to allow for seating on the back side of the island. Their current island belongs to their landlord and could not be modified. I worked with them to create a table top that slides over the existing top and clamps in place without screwing into the existing table top. Furniture pads were used to further protect the existing top. A removable front panel allows the top to slide on and off for future flexibility or to build into an independent dining table or island at a later date.
Solid hardwood maple was used with waterfall edges to create the illusion of a solid thick table. A custom colored stain was applied to better match the existing island and wood floors.
From the client:
”We are so happy with our new table top!!! Exactly what we were looking for and will be great to use as a table in future homes! Keith did a really impressive job and we will definitely be reaching out for future woodworking projects!"
